We collect as little as possible.

What we collect

Accounts are optional. You can read everything without signing in. If you choose "Sign in with Google" to vote, we receive your first name, profile picture and Google's account ID from Google. We store a one-way hashed version of that ID (so we can't identify you from it), your first name and your picture link, plus your votes. We never receive or store your email address or password.
Session cookie. Signing in sets one strictly necessary, secure cookie (er_session) that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Signing out deletes it.
Server logs. Our host (Vercel) keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, time) for security and reliability, for a limited period.
Preferences. Your light/dark mode choice is stored in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
Email. If you email us, we use your message only to reply and fix the page.

We don't sell data, run advertising trackers or use affiliate tracking links.

You can ask us to access or delete any personal data we hold, including your votes, by emailing hello@theexpertranking.com.
