Hive AI Detection
Hive has the best independent track record of any AI image classifier. In a 2024 University of Chicago study that tested five automated detectors and thousands of human judges on human and AI art, Hive and expert artists performed best, though they made different kinds of mistakes. The authors concluded that a mix of human and automated checks works best.
Hive checks images, video, audio and music, returns a confidence score, and tries to name which generator produced the content. Its free Chrome extension lets you right-click any image to check it, with no login. The US Department of Defense has also partnered with Hive on synthetic-media detection.
It is still a classifier, so it can be wrong on heavily edited images or brand-new generators, and API pricing requires contacting sales.
Pick it if you check images often and want the most proven classifier. Skip it if you need published per-image API prices without talking to sales.
