Asana Pricing (2026): Plans, Seats and AI Studio Costs
Asana's cheapest paid plan is Starter at $10.99 per user a month billed yearly, or $13.49 billed monthly. Advanced costs $24.99 billed yearly ($30.49 monthly), and Enterprise and Enterprise+ are priced by sales. The free Personal plan covers up to 2 users with list, board and calendar views. Prices are Asana's US list prices on 25 September 2026, before tax.
Paid plans start at 2 seats, and above 5 users you buy seats in steps: 5 at a time up to 30 users, then 10, 25 and 50. AI is included on every paid plan: 5 AI Teammate requests per user a month (capped at 50 per account on Starter and Advanced) and a monthly pool of AI Studio credits (50,000 on Starter, 75,000 on Advanced). Extra AI requests cost $0.50 each prepaid. Pick Starter for timelines, dashboards and automations, and Advanced only if you need goals, portfolios and workload planning.

What you will actually pay
Worked examples using the published prices above.
| Scenario | Cost | How we got there |
|---|---|---|
| Team of 5 on Starter | $659.40/year billed yearly | 5 x $10.99 = $54.95 a month, x 12 = $659.40. Billed monthly it is 5 x $13.49 x 12 = $809.40, so yearly billing saves $150. |
| Team of 12 on Advanced (pays for 15 seats) | $4,498.20/year billed yearly | Seats come in steps of 5 above 5 users, so 12 people need 15 seats: 15 x $24.99 = $374.85 a month, x 12 = $4,498.20. On Starter the same 15 seats cost 15 x $10.99 x 12 = $1,978.20. |
| 20-person Advanced team using 150 AI requests a month | $50/month extra with prepaid requests | Included requests: 5 x 20 = 100, but the account cap is 50. 150 - 50 = 100 extra requests x $0.50 = $50 a month prepaid, or 100 x $0.60 = $60 on demand. |
| Starter team that adds AI Studio Plus | $1,620/year on top of seats | Included 50,000 credits + 100,000 from AI Studio Plus = 150,000 credits a month. The add-on costs the same whether the account has 5 seats or 50. |
Asana pricing compared with rivals
| Tool | Paid plans from | Free plan | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asana | $10.99/user/month billed yearly (Starter); $13.49 monthly | Yes: Personal, for up to 2 users | The tool on this page |
| monday.com | $9/seat/month billed yearly (Basic, 3-seat minimum) | Yes: up to 2 seats | Seats come in buckets of 3, 5, 10 and up; new accounts buy a monthly AI credit bundle with their seats. |
| ClickUp | $7/user/month billed yearly (Unlimited) | Yes: Free Forever, 60 MB storage | Cheaper seats, but AI is an add-on from $9 per user a month charged on every member. |
| Notion | $10/member/month billed yearly (Plus) | Yes, with a Notion AI trial | Full Notion AI and Notion Agent come with Business at $20 billed yearly. |
| Motion | $19/seat/month billed yearly (Pro AI, teams) | No: free trial only | Each seat includes 7,500 AI credits, and it auto-schedules tasks into calendars. |
| Jira | $7.91/user/month (Standard, monthly billing) | Yes: up to 10 users | Rovo AI is included on paid plans, with credits that scale per user. |
| Trello | $5/user/month billed yearly (Standard) | Yes: up to 10 collaborators per Workspace | Simple boards; AI features start on the paid plans. |
Asana is fair value for teams that use its planning tools, and less so for big teams that want a lot of AI. Starter at $10.99 per user a month billed yearly costs more than ClickUp Unlimited ($7) or monday.com Basic ($9). In return it includes timelines, dashboards, unlimited automations and a monthly AI allowance that ClickUp sells as an add-on. Advanced at $24.99 is expensive; pay for it only if you will use goals, portfolios and workload planning.
The AI maths favour smaller teams. A 5-person Starter team gets 25 AI requests and 50,000 AI Studio credits a month at no extra cost. A 100-person Starter team gets the same 50-request cap and the same 50,000 credits, so heavy AI users there should budget for extra requests or AI Studio Plus.
Asana seat steps
Asana does not sell seats one by one once a team passes 5 people:
| Total users | Seats added in steps of |
|---|---|
| 2 to 5 | 1 |
| 6 to 30 | 5 |
| 31 to 100 | 10 |
| 101 to 500 | 25 |
| More than 500 | 50 |
So 6 people pay for 10 seats and 31 people pay for 40. Guests (people outside your company) are free on paid plans and do not use seats, and Enterprise adds view-only licences for stakeholders who only need to look.
Discounts, refunds and cancelling
Nonprofits get 50% off Starter or Advanced annual plans. Eligible groups include registered charities such as US 501(c)(3) organisations, K-12 schools, universities and public libraries, verified through Goodstack; hospitals are excluded. The discount lasts as long as the organisation keeps using Asana.
Student groups can contact Asana about academic pricing. Refunds are not offered. If you cancel before renewal, you keep paid features until the end of the current period; after that you lose access to paid features and the data tied to them, so export first.
- Count seats before you buy. At 6 people you pay for 10 seats, so fill the step with real teammates and invite clients and freelancers as free guests.
- Pay yearly once you are sure the team will stay: it saves about 18% on Starter and Advanced.
- Nonprofits, schools and libraries should apply for Asana's 50% discount before paying full price.
- If you use AI Teammates every month, buy prepaid request packs ($0.50) instead of on-demand billing ($0.60). On annual plans, prepaid packs last the whole contract.
- Start on Starter and move to Advanced only when you need goals, portfolios or workload planning. The jump costs $14 per user a month billed yearly.
Jargon explained
- AI Teammate
- A ready-made AI agent in Asana that you can assign work to or chat with, like a colleague. Each successful job uses one AI request.
- AI Studio
- Asana's no-code builder for adding AI steps to rules, such as triaging a request or filling in fields. It runs on AI Studio credits.
- AI Studio credits
- Asana's usage units for AI Studio. How many a rule uses depends on how much text the AI handles and which model it runs on.
- Portfolio
- A group of related projects shown together so leaders can see progress and risks across all of them.
- MCP (Model Context Protocol)
- An open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT connect to apps like Asana to read and change data.
