Otter.ai Pricing (2026): Free, Pro and Business Costs
Otter.ai has four plans. Basic is free, with 300 transcription minutes a month and a 30-minute cap per conversation. Pro costs $8.33 per user a month billed yearly or $16.99 month to month, with 1,200 minutes and meetings up to 90 minutes. Business costs $19.99 per user a month billed yearly or $30 monthly, with unlimited meetings up to 4 hours each. Enterprise is priced by sales and is the only plan with SSO, the API and the HIPAA add-on.
Most students and individuals only need Pro, especially with the 20% education discount. Teams that record long or back-to-back meetings should choose Business. Prices are in US dollars as shown on Otter's pricing page on 25 September 2026.

What you will actually pay
Worked examples using the published prices above.
| Scenario | Cost | How we got there |
|---|---|---|
| Student or teacher with a .edu email on Pro | $79.99/year | Otter's published education price for annual Pro (20% off). Paying monthly with the discount costs $13.59 a month. |
| Individual on Pro for a year | $99.96/year billed yearly, or $203.88/year monthly | $8.33 × 12 = $99.96. Monthly: $16.99 × 12 = $203.88. |
| Team of 5 on Pro | $499.80/year billed yearly | 5 × $8.33 × 12 = $499.80. Pro allows up to 5 billed users, 90-minute meetings and CRM sync for 1 user. |
| Team of 5 on Business | $1,199.40/year billed yearly, or $1,800/year monthly | 5 × $19.99 × 12 = $1,199.40. Monthly: 5 × $30 × 12 = $1,800, less the 3-month first-time offer at $24. |

Yes, for lectures, interviews and budget meeting notes. At $8.33 a month billed yearly, or $79.99 a year for students, Pro is one of the cheapest ways to get live transcripts, 1,200 minutes a month and meetings up to 90 minutes. Business at $19.99 per user billed yearly is fair for teams with long meetings.
It is poorer value if you pay monthly ($16.99 for Pro), if most of your meetings are online calls (Fathom's free plan records without a minute cap), or if you need SSO or HIPAA, which pull you into Enterprise. Compare the options on our Otter.ai alternatives page.
Education discount
Students and teachers with an email address ending in .edu get 20% off Pro: $79.99 a year (about $6.67 a month) or $13.59 a month. Sign up for Basic with the .edu address, choose Upgrade plan, then pick the Student & Teacher Discount link under the Pro plan. The discount is for individual accounts.
How you can pay
Otter accepts credit and debit cards on its website and in-app purchases through the Apple App Store and Google Play. It does not accept PayPal yet. If you subscribe inside the iPhone or Android app, manage and cancel the subscription through Apple or Google.
- Use Basic for a month and check your minutes. If you stay under 300 minutes and 30-minute conversations, you do not need to pay.
- Pay yearly if you will use Otter for more than about six months: Pro costs $99.96 a year against $203.88 when paid monthly.
- Students and teachers should upgrade from a .edu account to get Pro for $79.99 a year.
- If your meetings often run past 90 minutes, go straight to Business (4 hours) rather than splitting recordings on Pro.
- On Business monthly, budget for $30 per user: the $24 price lasts only 3 months for first-time subscribers.
