ScenarioCostHow we got there
Solo marketer on Starter$948/year billed annually12 x $79 = $948. Monthly billing for a year costs 12 x $99 = $1,188. With 15 articles a month, that is about $5.27 per article on annual billing ($79 / 15), before counting the tracking.
Team of 5 on Basic, monthly billing$399/month ($4,788/year)$249 + 3 extra users x $50 = $399 a month; 12 x $399 = $4,788.
Content team on Growth needing 90 articles a month$599/month billed annually, or $699 monthly50 included + 2 packs of 20 at $100 = 90 articles. $399 + $200 = $599 (annual plan) or $499 + $200 = $699 (monthly).
Blogger who only needs drafts$99/month on Writesonic vs $25/month on Koala StarterWritesonic Starter gives 15 articles; Koala Starter gives 45,000 words a month. Writesonic costs about 4 times as much.

Is Writesonic worth the money?Ranked #8 in our Best AI Blog Writers

Only if you will use both halves. Writesonic makes sense for a marketing team that wants to track AI answers, fix pages and produce content in one place: Growth at $399 a month (yearly) adds sentiment analysis, the Action Center trial and 50 articles a month, which can replace a separate tracker, audit tool and writer.

For writing alone it is poor value: $99 a month buys 15 articles, while Koala starts at $25 and ChatGPT at $8. For tracking alone, Otterly.AI starts at $29 a month and covers Perplexity and Copilot, which Writesonic keeps for Enterprise. If you already pay for Semrush, its $99 AI Visibility Toolkit may be enough. Compare options on our Writesonic alternatives page.

Trial, refunds and cancelling

The 7-day trial needs no card. After you pay, Writesonic's pricing FAQ promises a 7-day, no-questions-asked refund. You can upgrade at any time with instant access, but downgrades and cancellations only take effect at the next billing cycle, so a yearly plan runs to the end of the year you paid for. Given Trustpilot complaints about charges after cancelling, keep your cancellation confirmation and check your next statement.

Money-saving tips from our editors
  1. Start on monthly billing. At $99 against $79 you pay $20 more a month, but you can stop after two or three months if the data does not change what you do.
  2. Buy Growth rather than Basic if you want to act on the data: the extra $200 a month (yearly) adds sentiment analysis, the Action Center trial and 25 more articles.
  3. Count users before choosing Basic. Five users on Basic cost $399 a month on monthly billing, the same as Growth billed yearly.
  4. If you mainly need Perplexity or Copilot tracking, price a cheaper tracker first; Writesonic only covers them on Enterprise.
  5. Use the free llms.txt generator and AI crawl checker before paying, to fix the basics at no cost.
