Jasper is an AI writing platform for marketing teams: it drafts ads, emails, landing pages, blog posts and social copy that follow your brand's voice and facts. You store your brand voice, product knowledge and target audiences once (Jasper calls this Jasper IQ), and every document and agent draws on them. Pro costs $59 a month billed yearly or $69 month-to-month, for one user. Teams need the custom-priced Business plan.

Jasper does not rely on a single model of its own. Its engine routes work across several large language models, with a marketing-specific layer on top. So the raw writing is similar to Claude or ChatGPT; what you pay for is brand control, marketing workflows and team governance. It ranks #3 in our best AI copywriting tools, behind Claude and ChatGPT.

8.2/10
Our verdictRanked #3 of 8 in our Best AI Copywriting Tools

Jasper is worth it for marketing teams where several people write for one brand and inconsistency is the real problem. For a solo marketer it is hard to justify: yearly Pro costs $708 for one user and 2 brand voices, while a $20-a-month chatbot with a good brief writes copy just as well. Use the 7-day trial with your own brand material, and cancel inside the trial if it does not earn its price.

Key features, explained

Jasper IQ: brand voice, knowledge and audiences

Jasper IQ is where you teach Jasper about your company. Brand Voice analyses sample content and sets tone and formatting rules. Knowledge stores product facts, positioning and files (text, images, video or audio) for Jasper to reference. Audiences turns personas into reusable inputs. Pro allows 2 brand voices, 5 knowledge assets and 3 audiences; Business makes all three unlimited and adds a Style Guide and Visual Guidelines.

Canvas, Chat and rewrite tools

Canvas is Jasper's main editor, where you write and edit documents with AI help built in. Highlight text to rephrase it, change the tone, adjust the length or repurpose it for another channel. Jasper Chat answers questions and does quick research in conversation. Remix turns an existing asset, such as a blog post, into emails or social posts. Version history goes back 7 days, and you can save, star and tag prompts.

Marketing agents

Jasper offers more than 100 pre-built marketing agents for tasks such as ad copy, landing pages, email campaigns and content repurposing, each drawing on your IQ settings. Pro includes agents for core marketing workflows. Business adds agents for more complex work, including GEO (optimising content to be cited by AI answer engines), translation and deep research, plus a no-code builder for your own custom agents.

Jasper Grid and Studio (Business)

Grid runs one brief across many rows at once, for example product descriptions for a whole catalogue or ad variants for dozens of audiences. You can test the first rows free, then each output row costs credits. Studio is a no-code builder for custom agents and workflows that map to your team's own process. Both are Business-only, and Jasper's team can also build custom agents for you.

Browser extension and integrations

The Jasper extension for Chrome and Edge brings your brand voice into Google Docs, email, CMS tools and other sites, so you do not have to copy text back and forth. An integrations marketplace connects to tools such as Webflow, Google Docs and Slack. On Business, the Jasper API and MCP server let developers connect Jasper to BigQuery, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make or in-house systems.

Images

Jasper includes an image suite on both plans: generate new campaign images, edit existing ones in plain language, remove or replace backgrounds, remove text from images, upscale low-resolution files and make packshot-style product photos with shadows on a branded background. It is handy for quick campaign visuals, but it is not a replacement for a dedicated design tool.

Security and data

Jasper says it is SOC 2 Type II certified and complies with GDPR, CCPA and PCI requirements, with yearly third-party penetration tests. Data is hosted in US data centres and encrypted in transit and at rest. Jasper states that it does not use your data to train AI models and never lets third parties train on customer data. Business adds SAML single sign-on, SCIM, role-based permissions and an AI audit log.

What users say about Jasper

Jasper's ratings split sharply by audience. On G2 (4.7 from about 1,300 reviews) and Capterra (4.8 from about 1,850), where reviewers are mostly marketers using it at work, people praise how quickly it produces first drafts, how stored brand voices keep a team's copy consistent, and how many templates and agents it offers. On Trustpilot the score is 3.2 from about 4,100 reviews. Most negative reviews there are about billing: charges after people believed they had cancelled, trials that rolled into paid plans, and slow email-only support. Some reviewers also call the output generic and say it needs heavy editing, and many feel the price is high for what it adds over a general chatbot.

Pricing at a glance

Jasper has two plans: Pro at $59 a month billed yearly ($708 a year) or $69 month-to-month, and Business at a custom price with a 12-month minimum. Pro includes one user, 2 brand voices, 5 knowledge assets and 3 audiences. Adding teammates, unlimited brand assets, Jasper Grid, the API or custom agents means moving to Business, which also uses credits for heavy features. There is no free plan: the 7-day free trial needs a card and turns into a paid plan unless you cancel.

How Jasper works

  1. Set up Jasper IQ. Upload a few of your best pieces so Brand Voice can learn your tone, add product and positioning documents to Knowledge, and describe your target audiences.
  2. Pick a starting point. Open a blank Canvas document, ask Jasper Chat, or run a marketing agent such as a landing page or email campaign agent.
  3. Generate and edit. Jasper drafts using your IQ settings. You rephrase, shorten or repurpose sections with one click and check facts.
  4. Share and scale. On Business, teammates review and label documents, and Grid runs the same brief across many rows.

The quality of step 1 decides everything. With thin brand material, Jasper's output looks like any chatbot's.

Who should skip Jasper

  • Solo marketers and freelancers: yearly Pro costs $708 for one user. Claude or ChatGPT at $20 a month, with a saved brand brief, gets you most of the way.
  • Small teams without a budget for a yearly contract: Pro cannot add users, and Business starts with a 12-month commitment.
  • SEO-first content teams: if ranking in search is the goal, tools built around keyword and AI-search data, such as Surfer or Writesonic, may fit better.
  • Students and personal writing: Jasper is built and priced for marketing departments.

Recent changes

Jasper has moved from a writing app for individuals to an enterprise marketing platform. Its current product centres on Jasper IQ (brand, product and marketing knowledge), 100+ marketing agents, Grid for scaled content, Studio for no-code custom agents, and a GEO hub that measures how a brand appears in AI answer engines. Business plans now combine a platform fee with credits for heavy features such as Grid rows, API and MCP calls, and research and GEO agents, while core Chat, Agents, Studio and IQ remain unlimited.

Expert tips
  1. Before the 7-day trial starts, gather 3 to 5 of your best pieces, a product fact sheet and audience notes, so you can set up Jasper IQ on day one and judge it on your real material.
  2. The trial needs a card and rolls into a paid plan automatically. Put a reminder on day 6 to decide.
  3. On Pro, spend your 2 Brand Voices carefully: one per brand, or one for formal copy and one for social.
  4. On Business, set per-user credit limits in Settings > Team before rolling out Grid or research agents, so one bulk job cannot drain the shared credit pool.
  5. Always check product claims, prices and statistics in drafts. Knowledge assets reduce errors but do not remove them.

Jargon explained

Brand Voice
A saved set of tone and style rules, learned from your own content, that Jasper applies to everything it writes for that brand.
Knowledge asset
A file or text you upload, such as a product sheet, that Jasper uses as facts when it writes. Pro allows 5.
Credits
A usage allowance on Jasper Business. Heavy actions such as Grid rows, API calls and research agents spend credits from a shared pool.
GEO (generative engine optimisation)
Shaping content so AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Google's AI answers cite or mention your brand, the AI-search version of SEO.
AI agent
A pre-set AI workflow that carries out a multi-step task, such as turning a brief into a full email campaign, rather than answering one prompt.

Frequently asked questions

What is Jasper AI used for?

Marketing content: ads, landing pages, emails, blog posts, social posts, product descriptions and campaign images, written to match a stored brand voice. Teams also use it to repurpose one asset into many formats.

Does Jasper have a free plan?

No. There is a 7-day free trial of the plan you choose, but it needs a card and becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. See Jasper pricing.

Is Jasper better than ChatGPT for copywriting?

Not for the writing itself: ChatGPT and Claude rank above Jasper in our copywriting ranking. Jasper is better at keeping a whole team on-brand, with stored brand voices, knowledge, approvals and marketing agents.

Which AI model does Jasper use?

Jasper says its engine uses several large language models and routes each task to a suitable one, with its own marketing knowledge layer on top. It does not tie you to one model provider.

Does Jasper train AI on my content?

Jasper says it does not use your data to train AI models and does not allow third parties to train on customer data. It is SOC 2 Type II certified, according to the company.

Can a team share one Jasper Pro account?

No. Pro includes one seat. To add teammates you need the Business plan, which is custom-priced with a 12-month minimum.
