Midjourney Pricing (2026): Plans, GPU Hours and Costs
Midjourney has four paid plans and no free tier: Basic $10, Standard $30, Pro $60 and Mega $120 a month. Paying yearly cuts each price by 20%, so Basic works out at $8 a month ($96 a year). These prices come from Midjourney's plan comparison page on 25 September 2026.
Most people should pick Standard. It is the cheapest plan with unlimited Relax-mode images, so you rarely run out. Choose Pro if you need private (Stealth) images or your company earns more than $1 million a year. Basic suits light, occasional use.
Prices checked 25 September 2026 on Midjourney's official pricing page. Prices are in US dollars unless stated and can change at any time.

There is no free plan and Midjourney's plan page lists no free trial. You need at least the $10 Basic plan to generate anything. Once subscribed, every plan can earn small amounts of free Fast GPU time by rating images. Midjourney says the images and videos you made stay yours after you cancel.
What you will actually pay
Worked examples using the published prices above.
| Scenario | Cost | How we got there |
|---|---|---|
| Hobbyist on Basic, billed monthly | $120/year | $10 x 12 = $120. At about 0.8 GPU minutes per SD job, 200 Fast minutes cover roughly 250 SD jobs a month (200 / 0.8). |
| Freelancer on Standard, billed yearly | $288/year | $288 paid upfront, or $24 a month. Relax mode makes images effectively unlimited, and the 15 Fast hours (900 minutes) cover about 690 HD jobs (900 / 1.3). |
| Agency with 3 designers on Pro, billed yearly | $1,728/year | 3 x $576 = $1,728. Pro is required for Stealth Mode and for companies over $1M revenue. Midjourney lists only individual plans, so this assumes one subscription per designer. |
| Busy month on Standard plus 10 extra Fast hours | $70/month | $30 + (10 x $4) = $70 for 25 Fast hours. Pro costs $60 and includes 30 Fast hours plus Stealth, so upgrading is cheaper if this happens often. |
Midjourney pricing compared with rivals
| Tool | Paid plans from | Free plan | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Midjourney | $10/month, or $96/year billed yearly (Basic) | None | The tool on this page |
| Adobe Firefly | $9.99/month (Firefly Standard) | Yes, limited daily generations | 2,000 credits a month plus unlimited standard image generations; includes partner models. |
| Ideogram | $15/month billed yearly, or $20 monthly (Plus) | Yes, weekly slow credits for eligible accounts | 1,000 priority credits a month; the pick for images with accurate text. |
| Leonardo.Ai | $12/month (Essential) | Yes, 150 fast tokens a day | 8,500 fast tokens a month and many models in one app. |
| ChatGPT | $8/month (Go) | Yes, a small image allowance | GPT Image 2.5 leads the Arena board; Plus at $20 suits regular image use. |
| Google Gemini | $4.99/month (Google AI Plus) | Yes, a daily image quota | Nano Banana 2 images, free for light use. |
| Canva | $18/month or $144/year (Pro) | Yes, up to 20 AI uses a month | A design editor first; AI images are one tool among many. |
Standard at $30 a month (or $24 billed yearly) is the plan that makes Midjourney worth paying for. Unlimited Relax-mode images mean you can explore without watching the clock, and 15 Fast hours cover deadline work. Basic is fine for a test month, but 200 Fast minutes go quickly and there is no Relax mode.
Pro is only worth it if you need Stealth Mode or your company earns more than $1 million a year. On pure value, Midjourney loses to free options such as Microsoft Copilot and Gemini, which follow prompts more closely. Pay for Midjourney for its look, not its price.
How GPU time works
Midjourney measures use in GPU time, the minutes its servers spend on your jobs, instead of per image.
- Fast mode uses your monthly hours: 3.3 on Basic, 15 on Standard, 30 on Pro and 60 on Mega.
- Relax mode (Standard and higher) queues jobs at lower priority and does not use your hours. Images are unlimited on Standard, Pro and Mega; SD video in Relax needs Pro or Mega.
- Extra hours cost $4 each on any plan.
| Job (V8.1 and V8.2) | Approx. GPU time |
|---|---|
| SD image job | 0.8 minutes |
| HD image job (2K) | 1.3 minutes |
| 4 SD videos | 8 minutes |
| 4 HD videos | 26 minutes |
| 1 SD video | 2 minutes |

Commercial use and company size
Every paid plan comes with Midjourney's general commercial terms, and Midjourney says you own what you create even after cancelling. The one hard rule is company size: if your company makes more than $1 million in gross revenue a year, you must be on Pro or Mega. Those are also the only plans with Stealth Mode, which keeps client work out of the public gallery on midjourney.com.
- Start with one month of Standard on monthly billing and watch your GPU use in your account before committing to a yearly plan, which is paid upfront.
- Explore ideas in Relax mode and save Fast hours for deadlines. Relax needs Standard or higher.
- Set the video batch size to 1 while testing motion. One SD clip costs 2 GPU minutes instead of 8 for the default four.
- Rate images to earn free Fast time; every plan can do it.
- If you buy extra hours often, compare upgrading. Pro gives 15 more Fast hours than Standard for $30 more, while 15 extra hours at $4 cost $60.
Jargon explained
- GPU time
- The minutes Midjourney's graphics servers spend on your jobs. Plans include a set number of Fast hours a month, and bigger or HD jobs use more.
- Relax mode
- A slower queue on Standard and higher plans that does not use your Fast hours, so you can keep generating images without extra cost.
- Style reference (--sref)
- A setting that copies the look of an image or a saved style code onto new prompts, so a series of images shares one style.
- Stealth Mode
- A Pro and Mega plan setting that keeps your images out of Midjourney's public gallery.
- Inpainting and outpainting
- Inpainting redraws a selected part of an image. Outpainting extends the picture beyond its original edges.
